Moravian karst

Moravian Karst
The Moravian Karst is one of the most important karst areas in the Czech Republic. There are over 1000 caves, archaeological sites of world importance, technical monuments and other tourist attractions. There are 5 caves open to the public: Balcarka Caves, Kateřinská Caves, Punkva Caves, Sloupsko-Šošůvské Caves and Výpustek Caves.

Abyss Macocha
The depth of the abyss is 138 meters (some sources indicate 188.7 meters). Visitors can view the abyss from two observation bridges and from the bottom of Macocha, where the underground river Punkva rises. The lookout point, the so-called upper bridge, is located at the highest point and is 6 km from Jedovnice. On the route Macocha - Punkva Cave there is a funicular open all year round.
Punkva Caves
The caves are located near the Rock Mill (from Jedovnice it is possible to
transport by car either in the direction of Blansko
or in the direction of Vilémovice, Macocha).
Visitors will get to the bottom of the Macocha Abyss on a dry path, followed by the second stage of the tour, a ride along the submersible Punkva River.
On the route Macocha - Punkva Cave there is a funicular open all year round.

Cave Balcarka
The cave is located in Ostrov u Macochy (6 km from Jedovnice).
It can be considered one of the most beautiful caves in the Czech Republic
due to its stalactite decoration. The exposition located in the cave
presents Balcarka as a cave of reindeer and horse hunters,
a site of remains of a cave bear.

Kateřinská Cave
The cave is located near the Rock Mill (from Jedovnice it is possible
to transport by car either in the direction of Blansko or in the
direction of Vilémovice, Macocha). The cave has an interesting dripstone decoration with high meter wand stalagmites, a well-known witch with gingerbread house, but also a large spacious dome with excellent acoustics (concerts).

Sloupsko-Šošůvské Caves and Kůlna Caves
Caves are considered to be the longest accessible caves in the Czech Republic (6.5 km long labyrinth of underground corridors connected by a series of abysses, rich stalactite decoration, etc.). In the Kůlna cave is documented
the oldest settlement of the Moravian Karst by Neanderthal man.

Výpustek Cave
The cave has a very rich history: it served as a Nazi underground factory,
fter the war as an atomic shelter. In the building of the former barracks there is a museum exposition “Caves and people”.

Bull Rock
An important archaeological site (Palaeolithic, Neolithic, Bronze and Iron Age)
is a globally known shrine of the Iron Age, a mysterious place
of prehistoric ritual murders (so-called Hallstatt burial, finding
human skeletons and bull statuettes). The Jedovnický brook rises near a high white rock. This small watercourse sinks near Jedovnice at the so-called
Rudice sinkhole and its waters reappear on the Earth's surface after 13 km.

Old ironworks near Adamov
The site of iron production from the 18th century, now a museum
of Slavic hardware and national cultural monument.
František's blast furnace (10 m) dominates the whole area.
Sample melts are held here every year.

Rudické propadání
The waters of the Jedovnický creek sink to a depth of 86 m
and rise to the surface after 13 km near Adamov (cave Býčí skála).
Next to the forfeiture is the cave and the ruins of the mill.
